Who we are
Numismatist AI ("we," "us," "our") operates numismatist.ai: a web product for identifying coins from photos, tracking collections, and getting value estimates. By signing up or using the service, you agree to these terms.
What we provide
Free tier. Account, one collection (up to 100 coins), wishlist, scan history, and read access to the knowledge base.
Paid tiers. Larger collections, advanced features (value estimates, value alerts, API access), and tier- gated agent capabilities. Current pricing is on the pricing page; changes follow the notice rules below.
Coin identifications, grade estimates, and value ranges are estimates, not certifications. We are not a grading service. PCGS and NGC certify; we infer. Market values move — our ranges reflect comparable-sales data at the time of the query and shouldn't be treated as a guarantee.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, email will@numismatist.ai immediately. One person per account; sharing logins isn't allowed on paid tiers (it confuses our anti-abuse heuristics).
Your content — collections, scans, photos
You retain ownership of every coin photo you upload and every note you write. By uploading, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to:
- store and display your content back to you;
- derive image embeddings from your scans for catalog matching;
- use anonymized, de-identified scan data to improve our models (no identifying metadata, no per-user attribution).
That license ends when you delete the content, with a brief tail for backup retention (see Privacy). You can delete individual scans, individual collections, or your entire account at any time.
Public collections.If you set a collection's visibility to "public" or "unlisted," you grant us the additional right to display that collection's contents to other users (public) or anyone with the URL (unlisted). Switching back to "private" ends that right immediately.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- scrape, copy, or republish substantial portions of our content (catalog data, knowledge-base articles) without permission;
- reverse-engineer the API, models, or scoring logic;
- upload content you don't have rights to (someone else's photos of someone else's coin) or content that's illegal, defamatory, or infringing;
- impersonate other users or create accounts to evade tier limits;
- use the service to launder counterfeit, stolen, or culturally-protected items (Native-American grave goods, etc.).
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules. We try to warn first; for serious / repeated breaches we may act immediately.
Billing, refunds, and cancellation
Paid subscriptions renew automatically each month or year. You can cancel from the billing section of your account page— cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period; we don't prorate partial periods.
We'll refund the most recent charge if you cancel within 14 days of first paying and haven't used the paid-tier features substantively. After that, refunds are at our discretion. Email will@numismatist.ai and we'll respond within five business days.
Lifetime tier.If you bought a lifetime seat during the launch waitlist, it's yours for the operating lifetime of the service, transferable only with our written consent. If we shut the service down, lifetime members get any owed refund prorated against months elapsed since purchase.
Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is."We don't warrant uninterrupted availability, that identifications will be accurate, or that estimated values reflect what you'll actually get at sale. Coin photography, lighting, wear, and counterfeits all confound automated identification — treat our output as a starting point, not a verdict.
Third-party links — PCGS, NGC, Heritage, Great Collections, Wikimedia Commons — are provided for reference. We are not responsible for the content or terms of those sites.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunity, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) one hundred US dollars. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits — in those, the limit is the maximum that jurisdiction permits.
DMCA / copyright
If you believe content on the service infringes your copyright, send a notice with the URL, your contact info, the work allegedly infringed, and a good-faith statement that the use isn't authorized, to will@numismatist.ai. We'll review and take down infringing content. Repeat infringers lose their accounts.
Termination
You can leave at any time — hit Delete Account on your account page or email will@numismatist.ai. We can suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms. If we shut the service down, we'll give 30 days' notice and offer an export of your collections + wishlist.
Changes
We'll update the date at the top whenever this changes. For material changes — price increases, new acceptable-use rules, shorter retention windows — we email active accounts at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date counts as agreement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes that can't be resolved informally go to courts located in San Francisco County, California, and both sides agree to that venue.
